Slag Based Pavement Materials

  Steelstone has been supplying slag based aggregates to the RTA, Municipal Councils and the construction and landscaping industries in Newcastle and the Hunter and Central Coast regions since 1991. Through SCE Resources, slag based aggregates are also supplied into the Sydney and Wollongong markets from its base in Port Kembla. 

 Due to the unique properties of slag materials, the process results in superior products for road base, road capping, pavement, stabilisation and other specialised applications, as well as supplying materials for standard construction purposes.

Steelstone, processes, blends and recycles industrial slag products as an alternative to quarried aggregate products. Slag is a byproduct of the iron and steel making process and is classified as an inert material. The use of slag aggregates is a viable and sustainable alternative to quarried natural aggregates. 

SCE has pioneered the use of slag aggregates in Australia which comply with Australian Standards and NSW Roads and Traffic Authority specifications.

Slag pavement products utilise an industrial byproduct and are 100% recycled products. They reduce energy consumption, conserve natural resources, preserve natural landscapes and reduce the need for landfill.
