SCE's hard rock quarry at Hebden has had a facelift, with the 6km dirt entry road recently sealed from the Quarry entrance all the way to the weighbridge, improving safety for staff and truck drivers who frequently use the road.
"When the old road got wet it became quite slippery," says Hebden Quarry Manager, Nigel Simms. "Resurfacing the road eliminates all those potential safety issues and allows our staff and subcontractor truck drivers to enter the Quarry much easier."
The project involved a two-coat seal using sealing aggregate, which was drilled and blasted from hebden quarry.
The road base material was reduced to 10mm and 20mm aggregate stone in Hebden Quarries own crushing plant then pre-coated before sealing the road.
Benefits of sealing the old Hebden Quarry dirt road include:
- Minimises dust emissions;
- Improves working environment at the Quarry; and
- Improves safety for company and contract drivers.
